Ranger Picture
The modern US Army Airborne Rangers came from the the company Long Range Recon patrol (LRRP's), AKA LRP's of Vietnam, Korea, and WWII. The motto "Rangers Lead The Way" was adopted on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, June 6th, 1944. The three modern Ranger Battalions are now based at Ft. Benning, Georgia (3/75 Rangers), Ft. Lewis, Washington (2/75 Rangers), and Hunter Army Air Field, Georgia (1/75th Rangers). Rangers are a part of SOCOM, the Special Operations Command based at MacDill AFB, outside of Tampa, Florida. Many Rangers go on to join the elite "Delta Force" or SFOD-D after serving at least 6-8 years in either the Rangers, or Special Forces (AKA the Green Berets), or other highly elite units. The 75th Ranger Regiment is the pride of the Army Infantry.
