David Hackworth's Trials and Tribulations

This page, when completed, will contain a history of the Hackworth vs. Boorda story. As someone else is compiling a lot of the content that will go here, this is just a holder for the page that will eventually go here.

Essence:

David Hackworth was the lead reporter criticizing Admiral Boorda's wearing of possibly unauthorized medals.

Admiral Boorda committed suicide over the incident.

David Hackworth was later discovered to be wearing a Ranger Tab, and several other medals that were unauthorized. He removed some thirty medals from his web page, when he was caught a year later! He blamed the errors on a sleepy clerk. An ongoing investigation has revealed that there are still more medals that are clearly unearned up on his web page (details will not be released until the investigation is over).

Summary:

Even though David Hackworth was a hard charging soldier at one time, it does not excuse his committing the same offense he criticized Admiral Boorda for, when Hackworth goes the extra mile in claiming to be one of the most decorated soldiers in America. Especially since a highly decorated man should be extra sensitive to this particular issue.

Conclusion:

Two wrongs do not make a right. And Hackworth needs to stop blaming others (sleepy clerks) for his misdeeds, and 'fess up to his own wearing of unauthorized medals.
